Assertiveness Skills

Introduction

Our behavior at work can vary depending upon the circumstances we face. Sometimes, we can feel quite confident to deal with a particular situation and at other times, we feel threatened and fearful. The outcome of these interactions will differ as a result of the behavior we demonstrate.

We are affected by how we feel about particular people and their personalities, as well as organizational expectations and perceptions. Confidence, resilience and decisiveness are important qualities, but these can be confused with aggression, toughness and interpersonal dominance.
